There is a must on everyone's itinerary who is interested in the impressive history of the Bavarian King Ludwig II. and his cousin the Austrian Empress Elisabeth.
One of the most impressive sights is the Rose Island. It is famous for the secret meetings between King Ludwig II. and the Empress "Sisi". Peter Joseph Lenné planned the gardens around the little "Casino", which had been built as a summerhouse on the island between 1851 and 1853. Because of the beauty of the island, the village Feldafing is also called "pearl of the lake". Nowadays you can spend beautiful nights on the island where you can listen to the evening serenades.
Another nice place, not only for sportspeople is the golf course in Feldafing which is one of the best in Europe or the "Kaiserin-Elisabeth-Path" where you can have a great view over the Lake Starnberg.
