The “Heart of Weßling” is wet but not cold. – That´s the motto all Weßlingers share. The smallest of all lakes in the Five Lakes Region does not only owe its name to its form, at the same time its right in in middle of the town. The onion dome of the church mirrors in the dark lake water as the birds try to make their way through the reed. Here, at Lake Weßling visitors find romantic, unspoiled nature. The walk around the lake takes about thirty minutes and offers many opportunities for sitting by the lake and enjoying a cup of coffee.

Weßling is also considered as an artist’s village. Many painters such as Pierre- Auguste Renoir spent time here. By the lakeshore you will find many sculptures from a sculptor´s week.

The famous doctor Alois Alzheimer, the discoverer of the famous disease, also lived in Weßling.

Despite the romantic landscape, great emphasis is also put on modernity and innovation in Weßling. The German center for aviation and aeronautics is based in Weßling, that´s also the base of the main control center of “Galileo”, the European satellite navigation system.
