The villages of Etterschlag, Auing, Walchstadt and Steinebach altogether form the community of Wörthsee, located by the lake that bears the same name. For visitors driving from Munich it´s the perfects location as it is only a short drive from the Autobahn (freeway).

Wörthsee is located on the north shore of the third largest lake in the Five Lake Region, “Lake Wörth”. It has always been a popular recreational paradise as the lake warms up quickly in the springtime and freezes quickly in the winters.

Especially the town of Steinebach became known one hundred years ago when “Fleischmann” opened up the first outdoor swimming pool with a huge diving platform and a giant slide imported from the USA.

„Fleischmann“ still exists today, although the sled and the diving tower are much smaller now.

For all bathers and hikers the lake shore offers a variety of beer gardens. The walking tour around the lake takes about three hours. “Paradise corner” - one of the most beautiful spots between Schlagenhofen and Steinebach is especially beautiful during sunsets.

The lake bears its name from its little island “Werth”, also known as “Mouse Island”. The little summer castle on the island is in private ownership.
