The romantic Rose Island on Lake Starnberg is one of the most beautiful areas in the Five-Lake Region. The civil registry office of Feldafing even offers weddings on it. But the only island in Lake Starnberg is always worth a visit, also without getting married.

Here you can find all you need to know about the boat service, schedules, prices, operating hours and how to get there. During the summer months Rose Island is a picturesque location for concerts - you can find all the dates for “Roseninsel Serenaden” here:

In 1850 King Maximilian II von Bayern purchased the island Wörth and assigned the construction of the summer residence “Casino” and the planning of a rose garden, after which the island is named today. Peter Joseph Lenné designed the “Casino” as well as the garden.

Ludwig II also enjoyed the romantic ambiance and the isolation of Rose Island and spending time with company in private. Some of his guests were empress Elisabeth of Austria, known as Sisi, Tsarina Maria Alexandrowna and Richard Wagner.

The only island in Lake Starnberg is located 170 meters away from the western shore in the bay of Feldafing and measures approximately 2,5 hectares.
