The Starnberg Five-Lake Region has more than 100 kilometres of lakeshore, 100 square kilometres of water and suitable wind conditions, all ideal for water sports.
In July the average temperature of the water in the lakes is 21 degrees C. The numerous inviting beaches and outdoor swimming pools are just right for a refreshing dip.
The location of the lakes at the foot of the Alps makes them a perfect spot for surfing and sailing. There are sailing and surfing schools scattered all around the lakes, and you can also rent sailing, paddle and electric boats for tours. Bavaria’s one and only water-skiing school is in Possenhofen, on Lake Starnberg.
Guests holidaying on Lake Ammer with their own boat can rent a berthing place for the duration at the Tourist Information Office in Herrsching.
Good visibility ranges, a wide variety of fish species and different diving sites make Lake Starnberg an Eldorado for divers. And for those who wish to take things a bit more leisurely, there are ample fishing possibilities on four of the five lakes.
